Ikobi, a candidate of the party for Boki 1 State House of Assembly elections earlier this year, resigned on Saturday in a letter he addressed to the Beebo/Bumaji ward chairman of the party.

The grassroot politician who thanked the party for giving him the 'political worth' in the years past, said he is plugging into the rulling government to bring the dividends of democracy to the people, as this could be the reason for his resignation.

The four-paragraph letter which was sighted by our Boki Blog correspondent read, “I humbly appreciate PDP for giving me political worth in the years past.

My profound gratitude to our party supporters who dared the odds to vote massively for me in the 2023 State House of Assembly elections.

“Time the Healer", our people concerns and plugging-in to government to bring the dividends of democracy to them is paramount.

“At this juncture, permit me to announce my resignation from PDP. Thank you".

The announcement of Hon. Ikobi's defection came after a thank-you meeting with excos, stakeholders, and party members of the People's Democratic Party, PDP in Boki constituency 1, in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State.

Hon. Ikobi had defected with 1,019 party members from Beebo/Bumaji ward to the rulling All Progressives Congress, APC.

However, Ikobi has over 7000 support base within the constituency.
