FG empowers SMEs with ₦250,000 grant in Calabar

The federal government, in partnership with the Cross River State Government, hosted the 8th Expanded National MSME Clinic in Calabar, reinforcing its commitment to support small businesses.

Kashim Shettima, vice president, who represented President Bola Tinubu, inaugurated a new ICT Hub for MSMEs at the State Library Complex, providing access to modern technology and resources.

According to Shettima, the MSME Clinics bring government support directly to entrepreneurs, while highlighting the collaboration with key agencies. He also announced ₦250,000 unconditional grants for outstanding business in the exhibition.

As the Season of Sweetness surges, Governor Otu pledged to continue giving hope to MSMEs for their growth, noting that over 3,500 entrepreneurs have been trained through the Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency.

Great Ogban, CEO of CRSMEDA, expressed optimism about the initiative’s impact on economic development, stating, “This clinic fosters innovation and builds a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem.”

Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information, and Temitola Adekunle-Johnson, special adviser, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by entrepreneurs nationwide.

The vice president was accompanied by Charles Odii, director-general and CEO, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), along with other top government functionaries.
