Newly employed academics staff across the Cross River State College of Nursing Sciences in Calabar, Obudu, and Itigidi have called on constituted authorities in the state to intervene on their behalf over refusal to pay their salaries in the last 6 months.

The employees who spoke with our correspondent, stressed that they have been working for the Cross River State Government as science Lecturers at the various Colleges of Nursing Sciences for over 6 months without salaries.
Following the frustration, on of the Lecturers said; "Our employment was a necessary requirement by the NBTE for accreditation and transition from Schools Of Nursing Sciences to Colleges of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences.
"We were actively involved in the accreditation process and the state scored the highest in the South south by NBTE assessments. Six months later, same staff have been dehumanised" he said.
"Some of us were posted from various Senatorial Districts to other Senatorial Districts where we never had a family before our employments as at August 1st, 2023 till date, Wednesday, being 1st of February, 2024. We resigned from our previous jobs, paused on our businesses, relocated completely and even rented new apartments". He added.
The staff also appealed to the state governor, His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu to intervene in their situation.
