A frontline aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the councilorship seat of Oku/Borum/Njua Ward, at the 8th Boki Legislative Council, Mr. Obi Kekong has reiterated his commitment to always stand up for the people if elected Councilor.

He made this known in a social media post on Wednesday while stating out key areas he wishes to focus on if given the opportunity.

He wrote;

"I want to take this opportunity to wish the good people of Oku/Borum/Njua Ward a very happy new year, and pledge that when elected into the Boki Legislative Council, I will continue to do all I can to stand up for you in the parliament.

"Looking back over the year just gone, I did not have to tell you that the challenges we face are huge, and Government austerity measures seems to make our problems even worse. Throughout my stay within the ward, many of the locals I meet at my weekly/monthly one on one with the people I can truly say they are really facing desperate circumstances as a result of removal of fuel subsidy and, a failing economy.

"As one not told or heard, but knows where the shoe truly pinch. Once again, If given the opportunity to represent my people at the legislative council here are just some of the issues that I will be focusing on:

1. Standing firm against open defecation and encourage the building of private or public toilets within the wards.

2. Standing up for small scale businesses and pushing for a cut in VAT or VAT free in across the council.

3. Promoting farming and skills acquisition within our local wards and pushing for federal and state government grants and soft loans.

4. Working with women’s organizations in the city in support of legislation to make domestic violence a criminal offender.

"Please do continue to get in touch, so we keep raising our issues and concerns as a family to see how best we can channel them to the most appropriate authority for the betterment of our communities.

"Let me conclude by once again wishing you a happy and healthy 2024 and to pledge to continue standing up for a greener, fairer Oku/Borum/ Njua and Boki for all.
Best wishes.

I’m Obi Kekong.
