Addressing journalists, security agencies and political party representatives at the Commission’s Headquarters in Calabar, the Cross River State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Professor Gabriel Yomere, said the fake report was aimed at causing problems in the state.

Some media reports had claimed that some of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS) machines were moved into the Cross River State Governor’s lodge, but INEC urged the public to disregard the allegation.

The REC was joined in the briefing by the Commissioner of Police, CP Balarabe Sule, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Frank Idu, to affirm that the BVAS machines were intact at the INEC headquarters in Calabar.

INEC said the security cameras dedicated to the storage facility have been reviewed.
