The statement reads in part; The Inter Party Advisory Council IPAC, an umbrella body of all political parties in Cross River State held her first General Assembly meeting on Tuesday, 20th September to apprise the state of the Council as well as x-ray the general preparation towards the forthcoming General/Local Government elections in Cross River State.

Being the first meeting after a successful rerun election, the following resolutions were unanimously endorsed;   “As an advisory body, we restate our commitment as partners in progress and resolved to give our unflinching support to governments at all levels to advance the greater good of our beloved country, Nigeria”.

“On the strength of the forgoing, we thank our Governor, His Excellency, Senator Prof. Ben Ayade for providing a healthy political environment during our September 2 rerun election and urge him to sustain the same political atmosphere during the next General/Local Government elections in Cross River State”.

“On the State of the economy, we commend the industrial revolution drive of the Governor and advise him to immediately isolate at least three people oriented industries and imitiate actionable policies and programmes that will lead to massive job creation to curb the alarming rate of unemployment in Cross River State”.

“In order for our Governor to finish strong, we propose that he reconstitute his cabinet and make deliberate efforts to enlist technocrats with proven track record to man strategic ministries to drive his industrialization agenda.   “Moreover, the lacuna created by the sack and/or resignation of Commissioners in key Ministries like Finance, Health, Water Resources and Information has evidently left a conspicuous administrative gap that need to be urgently filled”.

“On the need to speed up implementation of government policies, we demand the Cross River State House of Assembly to intensify their oversight functions in order to check redundancy in Ministries, Departments and Agencies”.

“We commend the effort of security agencies in Cross River State which has resulted to the relative peace in the state but hasten to urge them to intensify their vigilance in the face of rising national security challenges and engage in intelligence gathering ahead of the forthcoming elections”.

“Aware of the importance of the next general elections in Cross River State, especially considered against the background that it’s projected to be the most competitive election since 1999, we commend the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for their preparation and resolve to  partner with them to sensitize, educate and enlighten our electorates about the new technology that will be deployed in the next election”.

“We commend the leadership of Associates Professor Mike Ishie, Chairman of Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) for the early release of timetable for Local Government election in compliance with the 2022 Electoral guidelines as amended. As patriotic Cross Riverians, we resolve to participate fully in the forthcoming Local Government election”.

“To make the election easy, peaceful, free, fair and credible to ALL political parties in Cross River State, we demand in unambiguous terms the compulsory use of Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS)”.

“We express disaffection over the humongous amount pegged for nomination form as we consider it a grand plan to exclude opposition political parties from participating in the Local Government election.  Therefore, we totally reject the payment of nine hundred and sixty thousand naira (N960,000) nomination fee for Chairmanship candidates and four hundred and seventy thousand naira (N470,000) for Councillorship. It is our considered opinion that only political parties has the right to demand nomination fee for the conduct of election”.     “We demand that Internal Revenue Service review their template for political tax to ensure parity, fairness and accountability”.

“We demand in strong terms 80% review of signage levy by CRISSA as the approved ten million naira (N10,000,000) for outdoor advert is obviously  too much for political parties to pay”.     “Finally, we urge Cross Riverians to conduct themselves in the most peaceful and civilized manner and shun all forms of political malfeasance as we commence campaigns from the 28th of September ahead of the all-important General/Local Government election“.
