Leaked Sex Tape: Charles Oberu Arraigned For Allegedly Circulating Girlfriend's Nudes

Mr. Charles Oberu, suspected to be the mastermind behind the recently circulated sexually explicit video of a nurse-in-training, Ms. Gracious Paradise, has been arraigned.

He was arraigned on Thursday 8 June 2022 at the Federal High Court, Calabar.

The charges were amended and the case was adjourned to a later date yet to be confirmed by our newsroom.

Charles who was dressed in a white and black outfit with black canvas was accompanied by two people suspected to be his sister and father.

According to the victim's lawyer, Usani Odum, "We consider the actions of Mr. Charles Oberu against our client as a gender-based violence, and intimate partner abuse which is very prevalent in our society.

"The only reason a man will deliberately leak and disseminate explicit sex videos wherein he is also in the content, is because he knows the patriarchal society will vilify and victimize the girl, and praise the man.

"This was the same reason Tiwa Savage was vilified for her sex tapes, while Oxlade was cheered and hailed for the same sex tapes.

"But our interest is not about public perception of the leaked tapes. The law is very clear on the circulation of sexually explicit content to blackmail people. We are determined to ensure that the accused is prosecuted according to law, so that our women and girls will not be blackmailed by the same people they once had intimate moments with."

Ms. Precious was a subject of public ridicule last month, after three sexually explicit videos of her surfaced online.

Her boyfriend, Charles had in a chat interview with CrossRiverWatch confessed to sending the sex tapes to six close friends of Ms. Gracious on Messenger, and blamed them for sharing it on other platforms.

Grace and Charles dated for a while before separating. He later pleaded for forgiveness and apologized to Ms. Gracious John, her family, and friends, and blamed it on the fact that he was tipsy after drinking rum with a few friends.
