A chieftain of the people domocratic party PDP is set to dump the party for the All Progressive congress (APC).

Hon Edward Ogon who will be defecting with Chief Mrs Monique Tawo Ogon and a multitude of supporters will formally defect from PDP to APC on Saturday, 24th July, 2021 in Nsadop, Boje Ward, Boki LGA at 1pm.

This was announced in a press release by his media aid, Kumini Sheriff Otu-oshibu on 12th of July 2021.

Hon Edward Ogon, is legal practitioner. He is a former member of the House of Representatives, representing Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency, a three times Commissioner in the State and presently the Special Adviser to the Governor on Mortgage Finance and Estate Development. In this capacity, he is leveraging on his vast private sector experience to get investors to build houses for civil servants and the public under a mortgage financing scheme.

Hon Edward Eta Ogon is the progenitor of the 'The Time is Now' , a pro poor and pro people political organization.

Following his then novel and far spread empowerment schemes while in the House of Reps, he had been described and adjudged as the Best Performing Member of the National Assembly from Cross River State during his one term tenure.

This will be a big blow to the PDP that is still struggling with the tsunami of defection to the APC lately.

It will be recalled that the governor of Cross River State, Senator professor Benedict Ayade dumped  PDP for APC.

The People Democratic Party is now an opposition party for the first time in the State since 1999.
