Governor Ayade’s defection to the ruling party is a Christmas gift – APC Chairman

Excitement as the chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) cross river state chapter over the decamp of Governor Ben Ayaye of Cross Rivers State to the ruling APC.

Senator Mathew Mbu Jr. chairman of APC Cross River State chapter express his happiness while briefing media men at the party national Secretariat, Abuja.

He said, “I feel great, I can’t even describe it; it was on the 18th of August 2020 that all of you and the good people of Cross it River State together decided that I should be the Chairman of APC Cross River State with the sole intention of unifying the party because there were too many divisions.”

It was seriously divided, I accepted the position with two things in mind which include:

1.the unification of the party

2. To turn Cross River State into APC state.

And by the grace of God we started unifying the party, there was peace in the party more also than it never existed but God even went further to bless us with a Christmas gift two years before the 2023 general elections to turn Cross River State to APC state but God gives us a Christmas gift in 2021.”

Meanwhile, when asked if he is worried about some lawmaker’s refusal to join the governor to the ruling party.

he said “Let me tell you something I’m able to stand here behind the scene, I was among the people who fought hard for Ayade to come on board.

Everything about leadership depends on the followership”

Senator Mbu further disclaims a statement by the opposition party especially the people Democratic Party (PDP) that the governor was not in control of the party before joining the APC.

I don’t expect the opposition to be happy, Can you expect a good story from them? Telling you that things are moving well? But I’m telling you no going back, Cross River State is an APC state and no going back and that is how it will be for a long time. I’m assuring you of this. He added.
