The Member representing Boki 2 State Constituency in the Cross River House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hilary Bisong, has called on Christians to re-dedicate themselves to the unity, peace, and progress of the country.

The Lawmaker said this in a statement in Calabar, congratulating Christians on this year’s Easter celebration.

He said that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ typifies love, sacrifice, holiness and oneness, adding that Nigeria can only be one country to be proud of, if these virtues are imbibed by Nigerians.

“No nation thrives in development where citizens place high premium on hatred, ethnicity, religious bigotry, criminalities, political violence, plundering of economy and mutual distrust,” he said.

Hon. Bisong said that the litany of crises, especially the drum beat of sectarian wars and general insecurity pummeling Nigerians can only be subdued, if Christians coalesced actions with their Muslim brothers to rescue the nation from the verge of collapse.

He described the current situation as the most challenging in Nigeria’s history, thereby calling on the Federal Government to explore more avenues of bringing the situation under control.

Hon. Bisong also used the occasion to thank members of his constituents for their continues support thus far, assuring them of his desire and commitment to quality representation in the Assembly.
