The Executive Chairman of Boki Local Government Council, Hon. (Pastor) John Ewa, on Saturday hosted a peace and reconciliation summit at Primary School Bunyia Irruan in Boki LGA. 

The event tagged “NEW BOKI PROJECTS” recorded a huge turnout of hundreds of indigenous Boki sons and daughters who cheered heartily in support of the ideas of the workaholic Council Boss.


The Summit had in attendance the DPO of Okundi Police Division, the head of the Army Battalion in Boki, Head of Civil Defence Corp, Head of Immigration in Boki, Representative of the police commissioner, as well as members of the Boki Peace and Reconciliation Committee, including Barr A B Tase, Mr Joe Tate (Both former Chairmen of Boki) as well as Barr Christie Okoi, who is the only female member of the committee. 

Speaking ex-tempore, the Chairman Hon Pastor John Ewa painted a not-so-bright  picture of the sorry state of affairs in Boki due to lack of peace. Comparing Boki to other local governments, he reached a conclusion that it was the absence of peace that has driven development away from Boki. 

“Since the communual and cult related clashes began, Boki has lost over 50 youths”. He said. 

He said as a result of the quest to find a lasting solution for peace to return to Boki, he has decided to to embark on “THE NEW BOKI PROJECT” so as to create other viable alternatives for the youths in Boki to explore their potentials. 
     

Pastor Ewa admonished the youths to shun cultism as there is no gain in being a cultist and advised the youths of Boki to instead channel their energies toward avenues that would improve their lot in life. 
   
He hinted that there is arrangements on ground to use a facility that would enable the youths who are being rehabilitated to undergo some sort of training and even acquire skills in order to be properly reintegrated 
        
He ended the speech by asking the invited man of God to pray for peace to return to Boki nation
      
After the prayer the heads of various security agencies took ther turns to speak advising the youths to shun cultism and embrace peace so that Boki may develop. 
     
Members of the Boki peace and reconciliation committee also spoke on the need for Boki youths to give peace a chance so that the needed developments would be attracted to Boki land. 
       
The occasion ended with some members of the youth groups speaking on behalf of the youths and promised to turn a new leaf and support Hon Pastor John Ewa’s efforts towards bringing lasting peace and developments to the Boki nation 
     
Highlights of the event was a pledge by the entire youths from different wards if Boki to support THE NEW BOKI PROJECT.
