NYCN C’River Central to Hold One Day Convention In Ikom, Friday 25th

The National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Cross River State Central Senatorial District, under the leadership of the Vice Chairman, Engr. Sunnyskipo Nchu Otu have organized a one day Convention for youths in Cross River central.

The maiden Convention themed “THE STATE OF INSECURITY AND GOVERNANCE” has been scheduled to hold on Friday, 25th September 2020 at the Ikom LGA Council Hall (12pm)

Preamble 

Insecurity which is refered to as lack of safety in the society could also be seen as a bridge of confidence in the agencies that are saddled with the responsibility to safeguard human lives and properties to maintain peace and serenity in our societies.

THIS EARTHSHAKING CONVENTION SEEKS TO ADDRESS:

1. CULTISM----: This earthshaking convention will be addressing cultism which is an illegal and unacceptable practice to the modish and modulate society, as you'll agree with us, young men and sometimes ladies identify themselves with this groups who carry out their activities in bushes and buildings within our residences and their actions involve frequent violent clash, robbery, deface of properties and forceful initiation of our citizens.

2. KIDNAP And RAPE---: It is another incongruous practice that has become very common in our environment, but becoming a lucrative pecuniary alternative for survival to the cultist and hooligans as monies realised as ransoms from their victims are used to fund their squalid activities.

3. Drug intake/Abuse---: Such as cannabis, cocaine, heroin which also engenders mental disorder, rape, kidnap as a trait to cultism and communal clashes as the incessant consumption of this drugs can spark up crisis as the effect for the abuse of this drugs negatively inspires the youths to engage in other forms vices.

 

The discourteous happenings associated with this Vices cannot be over emphasize despite the effort of the Government as they are caused by 

1.Quest for social identity

2.Peer pressure and influence.

3.Use of cultist by politicians.

4. Poverty

Also quest for fame and wealth which has made our public office holders and politicians engage the services of this brigands and this has increased the high rate of thuggery, cultism, drug abuse, academic dropouts and in most cases unexpected deaths. In the part of citizens who sometimes keep Informations that are of security risk to themselves for the fear of loosing  friendship or relationships and the gains they get from this nefarious practitioners. It is high time we realise that security is a collective responsibility of every one of us.
