It was a mild drama on Tuesday, June 16, as school resumption in Cross River state was disrupted by the operatives of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The state has not officially recorded any Covid-19 case, promoting the state governor Ben Ayade to declare ban lift on three schools the state.
Governor Ayade announced that three schools should open in the three senatorial districts of the state on a trial basis.
The governor also unveiled the distribution of 300,000 Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as part of protective measures to help control the outbreak and spread of Covid-19 in the state.
The schools include West African People’s Institute (WAPI), Government Secondary School Egoli in Ogoja LGA and Government Secondary School Ikom in the central senatorial district.
But on Tuesday, the decision was vehemently rejected as NCDC official disrupted the resumption process.
At WAPI school situated in the state's capital Calabar, students were not allowed to enter and are left stranded as the disease control officials blocked the entrance to the school.
