The Cross River State government under the leadership of Prof. Ben Ayade has intercepted  two trucks loaded with 120 Almajiris, and they have been returned back to their states.
On Saturday night, the Almajiris attempted to entered the State through the Gakem – Benue border.
According to the Commissioner for Youths and Skills Acquisition, Hon Signor Omang Idiege who spoke with newsmen said they truck drivers were caught while trying to smuggled these Almajiris to the state.

He said two trucks carried 120 boys and girls as well as some adult men (without luggage) through the border areas into the State.

The commissioner said, he had to returned them through the directives from the governor, Professor Ben Ayade, while he referred them to the governor’s instruction.

“His declaration of various COVID 19 control measures from day one which includes the permanent lockdown of borders has kept the state out of this deadly virus and it is equally helping to trap the influx of Almajiris”.
