Cross River state governor, Sir Ben Ayade has congratulated Elder Chief (Dr) Asuquo Ekpenyong on his 72nd birthday.

Ayade who spoke through a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita, described the elder statesman as a gift to Cross River state and humanity.

"On behalf of the government and people of Cross River state, I most warmly felicitate with you on the occasion of your 72nd birthday.

"Over the years, you have proven that humanity comes before wealth and that hard work is the sure route to success. That is why you are highly revered home and aboard.

"You are a gift to our state and humanity. Cross River state  is blessed to have you as a son and statesman, a worthy son who is a dependable partner in human resource development",  the statement quoted the governor as saying.

Governor Ayade hailed Chief Ekpenyong as an employer of labour and philanthropist who has put smiles on the faces of many and prayed God to continue to bless and keep him.

"As a job creator, employer of labour and philanthropist you have wiped tears from the eyes of many Cross Riverians and put smiles on the faces of many too.

"As you add yet another year to your age, I ask God to continue to keep and and bless you for us and humanity. Age with grace, Chief.

“Once again, happy birthday, Elder Chief (Dr) Asuquo Ekpenyong, OON", Ayade further said.
