Nigeria’s Independence Day celebration seems to have lost the sense of pride and patriotism that once distinguished the National Day amongst its teeming citizens. In the past two decades, the Independence Day has been greeted with vile enchantment and marked with critique disaffection blamed largely on the failure of government to advance national development. The trend of citizens identifying with the importance of Nigeria’s Independence Day is on the nose-dive as the country continues to taste its worst ever spell of national hardship.

Yet, in far-off remote OKWA and OKWANGWO communities, the Independence Day Celebration is still revered a little higher than Christmas and celebrated in grand style than the fireworks of a New Year’s Day. It is in this spirit that the good people of OKWA and OKWANGWO are extending their happy cheers to invite You (Journalists, Development Workers, Politicians and Tourists) to spend the National Holiday in the natural vegetation ancestral home of OKWA and OKWANGWO villages in Eastern Boki.

The experience will suit your sense of adventure and afford you a delectable story worth a million-thought publications. This encounter with a people cut out of the many civilization drama mocking the sensibilities of our world will strike coldness in your spine and open your eyes to opportunities that will be worth every moment of stress. The duo communities are on top preparations to make sure your time with them on the 1st of October is memorable and rewarding. You will be served with some of the most sumptuous natural home cuisines, treated to some historical folklore and the people folktales of origin. This trip is a beautiful piece of tourism, be ready to explore it.

Somewhere in the forest of Boki along the Nigeria-Southern Cameron international boundary line, there is a lone place secluded in the extreme Central-North of Cross River State which is the today’s relics of underdevelopment. This place has become the most biting instance of a people forsaken by its own parent society.

A typical case where a mother throws away her infant right after she was delivered of the child. Here you are faced with a difficult feeling for communities in the 21st century which interaction to its government and their livelihood in all areas has been entirely autogenous and bottom-up rather than the other way round. OKWA and OKWANGWO communities are a twin left gasping for the breath of development.
These communities have been exploited by the Federal government hosting one of the largest National Parks in the country and a massive expands of Government Rainforest Reserve yet, they are suffering unfortunately despicable abandonment.

Until today, these communities will transport their basket cases and corpses by head-lifting strapped to a canewood bamboo bed and would walk several miles before they can access a motorable road resulting to the dead of most persons who would have survived in good time and with minimal stress.

The deplorable pictures showing the current states of OKWA and OKWANGWO Primary School Blocs built by each community effort apiece had filtered the social media space sometime last two months and last month respectively. Children who will be expected to stand shoulder to shoulder with their peers around the world are made to gain their early impression of learning and acquiring the 21st century hybrid kid knowledge in those primitive farm sheds. What is the crime if OKWA and OKWANGWO communities to Nigeria Government?

Well, these and many more we will be exploring from the 30th of September when we will be live in OKWA and OKWANGWO.

Keep a date!
