Following the declaration of Boki local government area as an Open Defecation Free (ODF) area in Nigeria, the Paramount Ruler, HRM Otu Fredaline E. Akandu had said he became a town crier to pass the message and get Boki people to embrace improved sanitation through ODF.
In a press release by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Water Resources, in Calabar quoted the statement of HRM in words;
"I literally Became town crier in order to pass the message and get my people to embrace improved sanitation through ending the practice of defecating in the open"
Appreciating HRM, Dr Fiedelis Anukwa, the permanent secretary of ministry of Water Resources said "There are people behind the camera - People who without ther effort, nothing will happen. Thank you Your Royal Majesty".
"Cross River State is at the top of the league of achievers in Improved sanitation in Nigeria. We now have Six LGAs that are Open Decefation Free". He added.
