At least 350,000 Students and over 800 schools in Cross River state benefited from the Federal Government School Feeding Programme before its suspension.

The program which is one of President Buhari’s social development and anti-malnutrition drive nationwide is aimed at ensuring that the Nigerian child did not stay away from school for an excuse of food; children who leave their homes on empty stomachs are encouraged and that every Nigerian child had at least one balanced diet a day – an idea for the combat of malnutrition which is gradually becoming a nationwide phenomenon.

So many Primary schools have benefited from this programme in Cross river, but 'different' is the case of primary schools in Okwangwo and okwa communities in Boki local government area.

Two State government primary schools in communities that have suffered government abandonment and neglect for years now, never perceived the smell of the feeding exercise neither did they get to know the vendor or know what the feeding programme is.

Could it be that a vendor wasn't assigned to the schools? I don't think so! What could have possibly been the problem. Why must they suffer this level of rejection.

The schools itself are in a deplorable state and had been abandoned by the state government for many years now.

The primary school in Okwa2 was established in the 50s and that of Okwa 1 in 1989 based on Boki Blog research. Okwa is a community in Eastern- Boki, resides and share borderlines with the Cameroun Republic.

Sourcing from CrossRiverWatch publication In June 2019, school feeding program in the state was suspended about two months ago to the disappointment of thousands of pupils and vendors who were beneficiaries. Schools in Okwangwo and Okwa Communities never benefited.
