 The management of Pelican Stars female football club in Calabar has expressed confident that the team will defeat Crystal Fc on Wednesday June 12 in Owerri in the knockout stage of the competition.

Chairman of Pelican Stars, Mr Sam Kombor, who spoke on Monday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria in Calabar, said everything was in other for the competition.

He told NAN that the players were fit and stable and in good form to defeat Crystal Fc in Owerri, Imo state on Wednesday.


According to him, the team had signed 14 more players to boost the quality of playing and the chances of emerging victorious in all competitions.

"As a team, we are set for the match against Crystal Fc of Bayelsa. We are leaving Calabar tomorrow for Owerri.

"Our queens are in good form and ready to emerge victorious after 90 minutes play. Last month, we won the state AITEO finals against Linda Ayade Fc by 8-1.


"We are very much confident that we will reach the final stage in the AITEO Federation competition.

"Earlier today, we paid a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sport, Mrs Jane Ebri to inform her of our activities and the match ahead," he said. 

Kombor urged the players to take the match seriously by emerging victorious at the end of play.
