The Cross River State government has expressed its readiness to commence a school-to-school campaign in a bid to Sensitize children against illicit drug which have been on the increase among young school Children in the state.

The State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Stella Odey- Ekpo made this known during the 2019 Children’s day celebration held at UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar.

She said the government is determined to stem the increase in drug abuse among Children by going around the primary and post-primary schools.

On her part, the state Commissioner for information and orientation, Rosemary Archibong said teaching of morals and values may be Introduced into the state schools curriculum in both primary and secondary schools.

The aim of the annual children's day celebration is to raise Public awareness of problems that affect children which over forty Percent of the population face on a daily basis.
