In recent times, the Boki nation has not been in quiet as many crimes have rocked the length and breadth of the once peaceful haven. Boki just as the rest of Cross River is known to be a very peaceful place, where all the indigenes maintain a mutual relationship with each other. But it is mind-bugging how the once peaceful haven has in recent times become a place of chaos.
Major crisis that rocked the Boki Nation are:
Boje-Nsadop Clash in 2010, which according to the Wikipedia report claimed over 300 lives and many more injured, with property worth over 400 million destroyed. This situation rendered many homeless until the then State Governor; Sen. Liyel Imoke had to come down to Boki to see for Himself the destruction caused.
The 2016 cult clashes; 2016 would have been a completely peaceful year in Boki but for the Cult clashes that took place.
The year 2017 has been rocked by two major crisis: To start with is the Oil Palm Estate saga, the Oil Palm Estate in Oku-Borum Njua ward caused a major chaos in Boki as many communities both in the Oku-Borum Njua ward and Ogep ward took part in the fight over the estate ownership, which led to loss of lives and properties. Secondly is the current Iso-Bendeghe cult crisis, which already has to its credit burnt houses, and lost lives.
It is indeed a shameful thing to note that all these activities took place in Boki, A once peaceful place. How do we put a stop to this? How do we get Boki out of this muck? Will Boki ever be peaceful again? These are unanswered questions in the mind of concerned citizens of Boki. God help us!
