Ikom traditional rulers endorse Sir Victor Abang for House of Reps

Traditional rulers in Ikom local government area of Cross River have thrown their weight behind Sir Victor Abang ahead of the February 16 National Assembly polls for Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency.

The traditional rulers endorsed Abang in their various palaces during his campaign tour across the political wards of Ikom 1 to solicit for votes and support ahead of the House of Representatives election.

At Ofutop Ward 1, the Clan Head of Ekpokpa community, Chief Bassey Okey, said he was supporting Abang because of his sterling antecedent during his service as aide to three Senate Presidents and as Chief of Staff to the Chairman of NDDC.

According to Okey, Abang has attracted developmental projects to his area while holding appointed positions at various stages, adding that the time to vote him as a lawmaker into the green chambers to further complement the good work was now.

He added that people of goodwill should be voted into positions of authority to serve their people with the fear of God and to add meaning to their wellbeing.

``Your heart has received victory today. The opposition that is behind you is an opposition in vain. I say this with a pure heart, because that is what the scripture says; blessed are the pure in heart for they shall be called sons of God.

``That is why it is said that when the children of God rule, the people rejoice. We are giving you this on a plata of gold. Take and remain bless’’, he said.

The Clan Head of Akparabong community, Chief Jimmy Etta, said ``Mature has the capacity and qualities to represent the people of Ikom/Boki at the Federal House of Representatives.

Etta, who spoke at the community’s town hall, urged his subject to vote for all the APC candidates in the 2019 general elections in other to connect the state with the centre.

The story of the endorsement of the candidacy of Sir Abang was the same in Adijinkpor, Olulumo and Ofutop 2 wards respectively where the traditional rulers and their subjects came out in their numbers to weigh their support for Abang ahead of the polls.

Speaking at Ofutop 1, the APC candidate assured his teaming supporters of effective and robust representation if voted into the green chambers.

Abang, urged them not to be deceived by politicians who only come to them during election seasons, saying that such people never connect with the people after victory. Because their loyalty is seasonal.

He promised to run an all inclusive representation that will attract developmental constituency projects, facilitate job opportunities for the youth and better legislation that will improve the economic welfare of his constituents.
