BOKI - Recharge Card Vendors Increase Sale Price Against Normal Value

Recharge card vendors in Boki local government area have increased the sale price of recharge card by N20 against the normal airtime value per recharge. As recharge of N100 now goes for N120, N200 for N220, N1000 for N1020 it applies to all value of recharge. 

Many vendors claim that what MTN give them per card is no more commensurate and that is why they add up a little to make up, while some say the sale of recharge card in bulk have increased and considering the fact that originally there is not much gain in the business.

Speaking to Boki Blog, Mr Ogbo a vendor in Okundi Boki II says " we may end up having zero profit if we decide to sell at face-value prices. Yea! We now sell N100 and N200 naira MTN recharge cards for N120 naira and N220 not because we choose to sell that way, but due to the amount we purchased in bulk."

He continued, "many customers have been here and when we announce to a them that we sell at N120, some of them murmur and walk away, calling us thieves. But this is not our fault, you can't run a business without profit."

Mr Ogbo made it clear that Ogoja which is were most Boki vendors order recharge cards from are having issues in pricing recently and it has been the major factor behind the increase in the sale of recharge all over the local government area.
