Executive Director Finance and Administration, High Chief Amb. Soni O. Abang: The Engine Room of the Commission, Senate Committee Emphasized.

 

The South South Development Commission (SSDC) has received commendation from the Senate Committee for its visionary leadership structure, with particular emphasis on the role of the Executive Director of Finance and Administration, High Chief Ambassador Soni O. Abang.

According to the Committee, Amb. Abang embodies the qualities of competence, transparency, and resilience required to drive the Commission’s complex mandate at this crucial moment in Nigeria’s development journey. He has been described as “the man with the capacity for the job and the true engine room of the Commission.”

As Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Amb. Abang oversees the financial framework and administrative backbone of the SSDC, ensuring fiscal discipline, efficient allocation of resources, and smooth coordination of the Commission’s programs across the six South South states. His track record as a respected administrator and community leader has earned him the trust of stakeholders both within and beyond the region.

The Senate Committee emphasized that his role is not only critical for the success of the SSDC but also central to fostering accountability, inclusivity, and long-term sustainability of development projects. His leadership is expected to strengthen the Commission’s capacity to deliver on its promises of infrastructure renewal, economic empowerment, youth and women inclusion, and human capital development.
