Armed Men suspected to be sea pirates on Thursday hijacked a commercial passenger boat conveying 30 people from Calabar to Oron, Akwa Ibom, abducting 17 passengers.
Boki Blog Africa confirmed that the attack occurred around Bouy 34 waterways at about 9:20 AM when the fibre boat, operated by Sea Express Jetty, was intercepted and occupied.
Confirming the development on Friday in Calabar, the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the command, Igri Ewa, stated that the victims were taken to an unknown destination.
According to our source, 13 others were rescued from the boat without a scratch.
“Patrol gunboats have been dispatched to the scene in collaboration with other security agencies to rescue the victims and arrest the perpetrators,” said sources
Investigation are currently going on, while further updates would be provided as the situation developed.
