The workaholic Director General of the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency Deaconess Mrs Abasioffiong Offiong has assured Cross Riverians that no child will die of malnutrition in the State as the government of Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade has through the health sector made major provisions for the tackling of any case of malnutrition in the State.

The DG made this assertion when she made a brief stop at Nkpani Village in Yakurr LGA on her way to Ogoja for the APC campaign flag-off to address some Malnutrition cases concerning three families in the community. With the children of Mrs Abul Amal, Mrs Blessing Omori and Mrs Magdalene Uket age bracket three and seven looking malnourished and unable to sit or walk, the DG expressed her sympathy and dissatisfaction with claims from the parents that the said children have been sick for a couple of years now.

Deaconess Abasioffiong while expressing her shock at the current predicament of the children assured the parents that government through the CRSPHCDA will continue to show support and care for the children.

In her words; "I'm saddened that our children are going through such pains and suffering, I understand how hard the economy is but then I'll still wish to solicit with parents to always prioritize the welfare and healthy living of their children, when this cases comes up please take them to the nearest health facility for proper medical attention and not resort to self medications. As a government we'll continue to do our best to support them in all areas including relief materials, and free medical services to avoid losing them."

All three families got support from the DG both in cash, medical commodities, relief materials amongst others. She called on Cross Riverians to report any case of malnutrition to the nearest health facility and not resort to self medications as that could cause more harm on the health of the children affected.
