UPDATED: Abang Pius Besong rejects Election primary result for Ikom/Boki House of Reps

A frontline aspirant for Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Abang Pius Besong, has rejected the result of the Primary-election  held on Monday, saying the accreditation process was marred with “irregularities” . 

The returning officer declared one of the aspirants, Barr. Attah Ochinke, winner of the Primary Elections with 27 votes.

According to Mr. Abang Pius Besong, during the accreditation process, seven persons had no means of identification and could not be identified even by people from same ward, but was imposed to the returning officer who was under threat by thugs hired by Barr. Attah Ochinke.

Dear Party Faithfuls, and Constituents of the Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency, it is no longer news that the primaries of our dear party, the People’s Democratic Party was slated for today the 23rd day of May, 2022, in order to elect a candidate who will be the flag bearer of our party in the forthcoming general elections of 2023. As a law abiding citizen and loyal party man who understands the tenets of democracy, our Principal, Mr. Pius Abang a frontline aspirant for the Ikom Boki Federal Constituency had made himself available for the process with hope that esteemed and qualified delegates of our great party would be given the opportunity to cast their votes but quite unfortunately, some Wards of Boki Constituency 1 had no adhoc delegates elections. For the records, Boje, Buenstebe, Beebo/Bumaji, Abo and Alankwu Wards in the aforementioned Constituency had no adhoc delegates elections, yet, to our greatest shock and dismay, we witnessed supposed delegates who were never elected as delegates in the first place voting from those Wards. All attempts to call the attention of the electoral members sent by our party to conduct the said primaries were greeted with deaf ears as they still purported to allow voting to continue without following due process. 

It is our contention that the said electioneering process that was purportedly held was vitiated by this act of allowing imposters who were never elected delegates in the first place to vote. 

As committed party faithfuls who represent the interest of majority of the Ikom/Boki Federal constituents yearning for effective representation, we call on the leadership of our dear party to swiftly swing into action and ensure that the right thing is done. 

The journey so far has been incredibly amazing as a result of the enormous supoort our principal, Mr. Pius Abang has enjoyed from our teaming supporters who through prayers, counseling and guidance has continued to coast us towards victory. More than ever, the commitment to give our people effective representation is renewed and we urge our supporters to keep the faith and stay calm as we work towards attaining victory through a process that is not just free but transparent.
