The Special Assistants to Governor Ben Ayade on Inter-Party South and Agriculture Research Institute, Mr. Dunamis Archibong and Pastor Tony Bassey paid a visit to the Cross River State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Commandant Danjuma D. Elisha in his office recently.

The visit was more of familiarization and collaboration Primetimevoice gathered. In his brief introduction, Mr. Dunamis Archibong commended the Cross River State Command of the NSCDC for their proactiveness and timely intervention on matters within their purview as security outfit as enshrined in their operational guidelines.

He further commended the command for timely intervention on addressing and curbing electricity vandalization which has become a teething problem in recent times while also giving kudos to the command for the prompt response in apprehending the trucks that were conveying the over 30 transformers out of the state from Lielliker Brothers without due clearance to ascertain ownership.

Mr. Dunamis who had earlier Introduced the SA on Agriculture Research Institute, Pastor Tony Bassey explained that having set out modalities for the collaboration between his office and the command, his discovered that the NSCDC has a unit which focuses on Agriculture, hence they decided to partner and from their analysis and economic perspective, their roles allign with certain operational guidelines and duties of the security Organization.

On the strength of the above, they seek collaboration in further security intervention, Community policing, seminars and workshops, orientation, Inter-Party Advisory role on security and peaceful cohabitation, human capacity development etc to foster unity, togetherness and harmony amongst people despite political differences.

Expanding on the above, Pastor Tony Bassey added that human capacity development in Agriculture comes handy to decouple the youth on the over reliance on political settlement and frustration when the settlement does not come. He said that his office having consulted widely, have set up various programmes to offer the alternative source of income for all that are desirous of making a difference.

As we know, Agriculture is one discipline that does not segregate, irrespective of what you studied of the field that you are, you are allowed to venture into Agriculture. We are not also oblivious of the challenges faced in the acceptability of everything Agriculture but we won't be deterred in propagating the message and to encourage as many as possible to join in the various Agricultural interventions that will be introduced soon.

We will need you, your organization in this business as my colleague has rightly pointed out to you to put pay on smooth takeoff and operations of the various programmes. We will visit many places to introduce the programmes, we want the Command's involvement hence the collaboration he concluded.

In a swift response, Mr. Danjuma Elisha, the State Commandant of the Civil Defence Corps, thanked the duo for the honour and kind words as testimonies of the good works of the NSCDC, these couldn't have been possible without collaboration. "I specifically want to congratulate you in your new found position of service by your appointments to work with the Government of Cross River State under HE Sir Ben Ayade".

"As a matter of fact, your coming here is indeed a step in the right direction and we won't fail to give you the support you need. It is true that we have a unit in our Organization that deals with Agriculture, the Agro Ranger. Infact, I was the pioneer Commandant of that unit when I was at the Head Quarters and that unit is still very much in existence".

All you have said here are the truest position of things and we can only make progress if we work together. Youth restiveness becomes evident when the youths are not engaged, do this is a step in the right direction. We will be there at all times but we only seek for early information on your programmes to allow us make plans and preparation for you because of the various lines up of activities for us. Be assured of our promises, plan well, plan early and inform us on time he concluded.

The Commandant, Mr. Danjuma D Elisha had a photo session with the appointees and wished them the best in their new found positions.
