The State Governor, Senator Prof. Ben Ayade has condoled with the family of Hon. Godwin Akwaji, the entire Obudu state constituency and the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP)while praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
Godwin Akwaji, who represented the Obudu constituency, died at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) Isolation Centre.
A condolence message signed by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Christian Ita said “Hon. Akwaji left us when his experience and impute in the governance of the state were most needed.
“For me, this is a personal loss, Akwaji was not just a kinsman; he was my brother, my confident, political ally and my representative in the House of Assembly”
He said the state “has indeed lost one of its finest breeds. My heart and my soul are heavy. Akwaji’s departure is too heart-rending to bear.”
“At this trying period, we can only pray for the repose of the soul of our brother. We cannot question God for His decision is final. Though we love Hon. Akwaji but God loves more.
“Let us, therefore, mourn like Christians, believing that our brother is now resting in the Lord’s bosom.”
