In line with Governor Ben Ayade's commitment to condone lapses in adherence to COVID-19 pandemic safety measures, Rt. Hon. Dr Itam V. Abang, member representing Boki constituency 1 at the Cross River State House of Assembly, has passionately pleaded with Boki people to ensure compliance with all safety measures.
The State which haven't Recorded any case of the virus since it broke out in the country have seen the Governor taking good steps towards ensuring the safety of residents.
Rt. Hon Abang stated that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is a dreaded disease that has no globally accepted cure yet, and had continually posed global challenge in the areas of life and economy.
She pleaded with her constituents as well as the entire people of Boki and Cross River State to adhere strictly to all safety measures, making sure they washed their hands regularly, use hand sanitizers and maintain social distancing, and that we all must move out with nose mask as directed by the State Governor.
According to the statement made available to us, it reads;
1. It is required that we stay safe during this trying period as the world is being ravages by the Coronavirús (COVID-19) pandemic.
2. I want to plead with you My constituents, Boki people and Cross Riverians to ensure that you adhere to all safety measures according to the directives of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) And HE the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prof. Ben Ayade.
3. You should always remember to wash your hands regularly, make use of nose mask, avoid crowded environment and make sure that you are not carried away by the euphoria of the season, thereby engaging in social functions.”
4. There is no glibally accepted cure for the disease yet and everyone has a responsibility to adhere to all safety measures to contain spread of the disease.
5. We have come to a situation where we must tell ourselves the truth that government alone cannot check the spread of the disease but everyone should join hands to contain the spread, if safety measures are maintained we will win the battle.
6. Defeating this pendamic is our collective responsibility and we must win!
