The industrialization drive of His Excellency the Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade has attracted International interest and recognition. The celebration of China mid Autumn Festival and National day was marked with an Award ceremony where Gov. Ben Ayade, as represented by the Secretary to State Government, Barr. Tina Banku Agbor received an Award of Excellence in Industrialization from China Industrial and Commercial Enterprise Association in Lagos State.
Calabar, the Cross River State Capital is undoubtedly gaining prominence as an industrial hub following Government's investment in the industrial sector. Worthy of note is the Garment factory, Rice City, CalaChika, the toothpick factory among others.

The SSG, Barr. Tina Agbor spoke on Economic, Industrial Relationship Between Nigeria and China: Cross River as an Industrial Hub as directed by the Governor, says the award is "a charge to do much more in creating an economy for Cross River that would not depend on Federal allocations", with a promise to continue the good relationship with China for the benefit of the State.
