C'River APC To Delay Kick-Off Of Campaigns In Honour of Late Chairman

The All Progressive Congress governorship campaign organisation in Cross River State say they will delay the kick-off of campaign activities in the state in honour of the late state chairman of the party, Dr. Mathew Achigbe whose funeral obsequies as announced holds from December 3rd to 7th.

In a press release signed by the Director General of the Campaign Organisation, Sir Maurice Effiwatt KSJI, he noted that “Going by the election timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission- INEC, Governorship campaigns as well as States’ Legislative Assemblies campaigns kicks off across the country today; December 2, 2018 and will last till February 28th, 2019.”

“The election proper is scheduled for March 2, 2019.”

“However, in honour of the late State chairman of our party, Dr. Mathew Achigbe KSM, whose painful exit remains a shock to us and the funeral obsequies as announced to take place from December 3rd to December 7th 2018, our campaigns will rather kick off in full swing after the date of his interment. May his gentle soul Rest in Peace.”

Late Achigbe died in a ghastly motor accident last month along Afikpo road in Ebonyi State on his return trip from a journey outside the state.

The Campaign DG noted that “the Governorship Campaign Organization of the All Progressive Congress in Cross River State, under the flagship of the Candidate, Senator John Owan-Enoh with his running mate, Ntufam Ekpo Okon, had since been fired-up to lead a campaign of truth and Unity, one that will be issues-based to rally all our tribes, tongues and communities in the State to unite for the purpose of rescuing, repositioning and moving our beloved state to the next level. This will be our focus in the days and weeks ahead.”

Adding, “We are by this Press Release also reassuring every indigene, residents and lovers of Cross River State that the APC governorship campaign organization is determined to win the State and put Cross River state back, rightly so, among the States that share in the advantages of being in the same party with the presidency. We cannot afford to play opposition politics within the Nigerian Federation at this point of our history.”

“More so, we will make everyone understand why Cross River State should overwhelmingly vote for President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC candidates, especially given the numerous political appointments and projects that the State has benefited from the President Buhari’s-led Federal Government.”
