Boki 1 Request for House of Reps, Zones State House to Eastern Boki

The people of Boki I State Constituency in Cross River State has appealed to the conscience of the good people of Ikom/Boki federal constituency and the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party to play fairness and equity by allowing Boki 1 to produce the next representative of the constituency.

PDP stakeholders from the area equally zoned the slot of Boki 1 House of Assembly to Eastern Boki Clan for fairness and equity.

Similarly, they also agreed to support any candidate that Gov. Ben Ayade will support for Cross River Central Senatorial District 2019 and equally, pay zero to security challenges in the area.

This was part of the resolutions unanimously agreed during a meeting of stakeholders from the area which took place at the East-West road in Kayang and was convened by the State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Dane Osim-Asu.
The resolutions was read by Mr Kevin Njong and seconded by Hon. Kyrie Okoh.

The Cross River State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Dane Osim-Asu, used the occasion to commended Gov. Ben Ayade of the state for the rapid infrastructural development in Boki Local Government Area.

Osim-Asu said that the peace meeting of stakeholders from Boki I state constituency was held to canvass support for Ayade’s re-election in 2019 and also to proffer solution to stop the communal clashes and cultism in the area.

He said that Ayade had in the past three years given special attention to the plight of Boki local government by providing the needed infrastructural development to the people.

According to him, Ayade has appointed over 4,000 appointees into his government through his ‘put food on the table policy’, saying that over 180 of the appointees were from Boki.

“As we speak, massive work is ongoing on this 27 kilometres road stretch of the Boki East-West road with three bridges. This road will be asphalted by December 2018 ; we must celebrate Ayade for this massive support.

“Also, the governor has completed the bridge linking the entire Boki to the council headquarters in Boje, while the kakwagom bridge is also awaiting inauguration.

“What can stop this road is the continues communal clashes and the cultism we face in our local government. It is important for all stakeholders in the Boki project to come together and embrace peace.

“This road will provide easy access routes for our farmers to convey their produce to the larger market. It is by the grace of God that I am chosen to be the leader of Boki PDP political caucus’’, he said.

The Commissioner urged the people of Boki I State Constituency to surrender their arms, embrace peace and work for the re-election of Ben Ayade.

Also speaking, Mr Bette Obi, the Chairman of Cross River State Forestry Commission, said that Ayade deserves a second term in view of his numerous projects across the state and his desire to change the face of Boki for good.

Obi also appealed to the chiefs and youths to shun all forms of violence and social vices in the area, saying that no meaningful development can occur in crisis prone area.

Similarly, Mr Abubakar Ewa, the Director General of Cross River State Anti-Deforestation, appealed to the chiefs to stop being fettish and inciting their subjects for war against other communities.
