Cattle Grazing Openly
Herdsman: File Photo

Farmers from the Boki Oil Palm Estate host communities have cried out over subsequent cattle destruction of their farms.
The Cattle which came in during the recent youth surge in the communities have been said to have turned away from their regular diet of wild grasses to eating farm produces.
One of the Farmers, complained that Her Cassava farm had been raided on more than one occasion, and repeated attempts to replace the destroyed stems seem to be useless as the cattle return almost immediately after the Cassava shoots again.
Some Farmers who voiced out their feelings said that they are no longer sure of a good harvest as the Cattle had done so much destruction to their farms, which they said was a means of livelihood especially in the current state of the economy.
Others, however suggested that the recent Anti-Open-Grazing bill which was recently passed in Benue State should be quickly enacted in the state, as the farmer dread confronting the Herdsmen who they feared were armed with charms.
A similar situation was said to have happened in Yala Local Government of Cross River State which was reported to have lead to loss of lives.
