The University of Calabar have finally dismissed lecturer, Mr. Joseph Odok, an assistant Lecturer in the department of Philosophy, who has been suspended by the University authority over his posts on the social media.

Report says the High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State has barred Mr. Odok from posting about the Vice Chancellor of the University clinic on social media.

Boki Blog learnt that the in the past one year, Odok has been suspended twice over allegation of insubordination and malicious/false publication against the University and it organs.

According to CALABAR REPORTERS The University around January this year placed him on indefinite suspension. This was barely four months after he was recalled from another suspension for similar offence.

FEARLESS REPORTS says the Senior Staff Association of the University set up a disciplinary panel to try him but according to their report he failed to honour their invitation to appear before them.

Having failed to appear, the panel recommended his sack to the governing council of the varsity over allegation of insubordination and gross official misconduct which was confirmed during council meeting this afternoon.

Following his dismissal, the High Court of Cross River State sitting in Calabar have restricted Odok from posting libelous publications against the VC of UNICAL, Prof. Zana Akpagu on Facebook.

In a law suit number HC/363/2018, Prof. Akpagu asked the court to give an order stopping Odok from posting libelous materials against him on Facebook and other social media platforms.

After perusing the affidavit in support of the motion and exhibits attached, the presiding Judge, Justice U.A Ibitham on Friday, September 21 granted an interlocutory injunction restraining Odok from continuing to publish libelous materials against the VC pending the hearing and determination of the matter.

The order which was said to be sighted by a Reporter of Calabar Reporters  reads in part, “An order of interlocutory injunction restraining the 1st defendant/Respondent from continuing publication of the libelous materials on the Facebook platform of the 2nd Defendant/Respondent pending the hearing and determination of the matter”.

Odok was listed in the suit as the 1st Defendant/Respondent while Facebook Incorporation, USA was added as 2nd Defendant/Respondent.
