An irate gunman who stabbed to death Mr Michael Orusede, an official of the Department of State Services, has been arrested at Bumaji, in Boki LGA by vigilance group in the Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State on Monday.
According to Punch Reports, Orusede was killed on Thursday in Sankwala, headquarters of the Obanliku LGA, when he attempted to pick up the gun that was surrendered by the gunman, who later used dagger to stab him in the chest.
Guardian revealed that the gunman had also shot the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Obanliku Police Division, Mr Effiong Okon.
It had also been reported that the gunman was shooting indiscriminately until the intervention of the DSS official and DPO.
It was learnt on Monday that the gunman, who was identified as Emmanuel Kpongkpong, was about to enter Cameroon when he was arrested in Bumaji mountain in Boki LGA, Cross River State.
Based on Punch reports; A resident of Sankwala, Mr Dennis Abasi, said the vigilance group swung into action after the village head was arrested by the police.
He said, “The gunman has been taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Calabar.”
“The state Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, said, “The killer of the DSS officer was arrested on Sunday. He will be charged to court soon.”
