After the Boki new yam celebration of August 18, 2018, market price for yam still remained beyond the reach of a common man in Boki LGA Until this ending days of September. New yams are now common sight in most markets in Boki as its market price fall.

Although is a good thing, but, Yam farmers at Okundi in the western part of Boki are worried about the low pricing for their produce.

The Okundi Market yam session is one of the biggest in Boki local government area. Reports claims It receives averagely over 400 farmers weekly.

According to some farmers, they had a good harvest this year, but pricing has become a major problem. They revealed that 100 tubers of yam which was sold between N50,000 to N65,000 in recent times, are currently being sold between N30,000 to N35,000.

Mr. Otu Steve, in a Facebook comment about low prices of Boki produce, wrote;

"Stop sales, cause artificial scarcity and see a sudden upsurge in demand igniting immediately hiked prices, simple! The poor farmers labour can't be in vain, no not in Boki.
But, schools have resumed and these farmers need, money badly that's what will be an encumbrance to my suggestion".

So far, yam market price has gone down even though farmers are complaining.
