Miss Bukie Okangbe is Boki politician from Boki II constituency in Boki local government area, a core supporter of the distinguished Senator John Owan Enoh. She is the formal press secretary to Boki LGA, and a passionate lover of media.
In this interview with Boki blog EIC, Okangbe revealed key facts about Boki politicians and politics in the Boki nation as a whole.
May Our Audience know you by name?
My name is Bukie okangbe from Ebam Borum in Osokom 11 of Boki LGA, Cross River State.
Can we get a little insight about your background?
I am from a normal family with alot of brothers and sisters, my dad was a teacher late Thomas ebu Okangbe, I did my early education at Borum primary and secondary schools. Gained my Senior secondary certificate in irruan kakwagom, matriculated into unical to study theater art, after which i spent about three semesters. I lose a close friend Stella Charles my school mother and after much depression, I decided I travel abroad. I then left for Holland in Amsterdam where I was trained into media, after 6 months training with Amsterdam cable, I started a television show in Holland call Africalifestyle then after a while i moved to UK, then finally decided in 2012 to come home. On getting to Nigeria, I decided my people needed a voice, so I ran election when my mandate was publicly stolen I stated working for the Cross River Broadcasting Corporation (CRBC) with a show tag HARDTALK after that I got an appointment as Chief Press Sec. to Boki local government area.
You've been a proud supporter of the distinguished senator John Owan Enoh! How true is this?
Yea I am Distinguished senator John Owan Enoh's supporter and family. I knew Senator John in 2013 when he was in REP, I like his style of leadership, I like his kind of person, so when I met one on one after a brief chat I started supporting him projecting him online when no one was doing that, I am very proud to say I started projecting and posting his picture online before anyone else
Politician or Political Supporter which would you rather prefer to be addressed as?
I am a career politician and an entrepreneur (laughs) abi

What's your first political party?
Hmmmm, I was in the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and now am in All Progressive Congress.
What inspired you to join the All Progressive Congress (APC)?
Loyalty! and I wanted a better change in Boki. When my political father defected to APC I did my finding in my local politics, the infight in PDP Boki pushed me to make the move. I don't like politics of do or die affair.
How can you describe politics in Boki LGA?
My dear, we can't continue to play politics without dividend. You can see Boki, no road, no banks, no network, no commercial bank (except the Unical Microfinance Bank), no developments whatsoever. Boki politicians need to stop being desperate for power and unite. We don't have much time again. Imagine how they fight each other till it started affecting the ordinary people in the village. Look at the crisis we have caused in our peaceful Boki land, so many are dead and buried because of us politicians, If we were fighting and growing at the same time, it would have been okay, but the reverse is the case.
What's your take on leadership?
Simple a leader most take and think of his people welfare and security first.
From your activeness in politics, do you have plans to aspire for any political seat in the local government or state?
(Laughs) Well my next aspirations will be state house but I have a major election in 2019 I need to concentrate on, so I guess it's next dispensation for me
Do you think aspiring for a political seat may be constrained by your gender?
No I've done it before will always do it.
Gender can't be a barrier at all. Women should be more bold and confidence, women play better politics than men practically.
Do you have any future plans for your passion for media? Because it seems you're diving fully into politics.
Yes of course I already have a team that handle my blog, when we are getting close to primaries I will do the needful and face my political activities
What challenges do you face in politics?
Well, the challenges I face was when I came in new, when you see people that are suppose to encourage you desert you, block you fight you especially women but now I am in the system they are no more challenges rather stories.
There been so many aspirants for Boki II State House, who do you think is good for the Job?
How can we be so desperate for one seat? In APC more than three aspirants and PDP so many. Haba, every body want to be in power at the same time, that is not democratic. Let us unite and look for a good person who will at least bring in some changes to our land, we need a better and peaceful Boki
What last advice do you have for Boki politicians?
Stop hating and beefing on yourself, let's unite so we can move Boki forward. Let us unite and stop fighting each other, Boki is very small let look for means on how we can attract development into Boki and bring peace to Boki. I wish everyone well
