According to reports reaching us, Hundreds of People’s Democratic Party  stalwarts from Boki local government area of Cross River State, traditional rulers, youth groups, women and support groups have endorsed Engr. Dane Osim Asu, FNSE, for the Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The historic endorsement took place at Kanyang community in Boki local government area where all the delegates from Boki and supporters of Osim Asu gathered to adopt their son to seek election into the green chambers of the National Assembly.

Speaking, Mr Robert Obi, the PDP Chapter Chairman of Boki LGA, said it was time for the people of Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency to elect a representative that would fill in the legislative vacuum that have existed over the years.
According to Obi, the PDP chapter in Boki was queueing behind Osim Asu because of his sterling leadership qualities, experience and charisma to represent the people in the National Assembly.
He said that the 73 delegates for the primaries from Boki axis had already been kept intact for Engr. Osim Asu.
“Our contribution to your aspiration is simple. I am here with all the 73 delegates from Boki and I want to assure you that we will give you block vote because no delegate will do otherwise.
“This project is entirely our own project and we must give you 100 per cent support.
“Engr. Osim Asu is a simple man, easy going, accessible, reachable and God fearing. We must do our very best to send him to the National Assembly”, he said.
Also, Chief John Obi, Ward Chairman of Oku/Borum/Njua ward, who spoke on behalf of the 11 ward Chairmen, described Engr. Osim Asu as “the man for the job”, saying that the people of Boki can no longer remember who their representative at the green chambers is.
Obi assured Osim Asu that delegates from his ward has already been secured for him.
Other chieftains of PDP from Boki and supporters of Osim Asu who spoke at the occasion, promised to work in harmony with the campaign organization in ensuring that Osim Asu is elected winner during the election in 2019.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Administration, Chief (Hon.) Mark Obi chronicled the achievements of Dane Osim Asu and urged the delegates to make their vote count, by voting for progress.
Other leaders who spoke included, Hon. Bette Obi, the Chairman of Forestry Commission, Mr Amos Kajang, Special Adviser to the Governor on Aviation, Chief Mrs Juliana Bisong, a Commissioner at the Universal Primary Education Board, amongst others.
The Paramount Ruler of Boki, His Royal Majesty, Ata Otu Fredaline Akandu, thereafter blessed the aspirant on behalf of all Clanheads of Boki nation and charged all Boki sons and daughters to stand by him and ensure that he is elected into the Federal House of Representatives.
Responding, Osim Asu said that his desire to seek for an elective position was divine after a wide consultation.
He said that he was in the race to give the people of Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency an effective representation, improve their economic well-being, empower the youths through skills acquisition programmes and job slots, attract meaningful developmental projects and be a voice for his constituents.
He urged the people of Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency to support his aspiration by voting for him during the primaries and in the general election.
Osim Asu, a former lawmaker in the Cross River State House of Assembly, a former Managing Director of Cross River Water Board and the immediate past Commissioner for Works, Housing and Infrastructure in Cross River State, assured the people of a change in leadership from what is being experienced now.
He used the glittering occasion to thank Governor Ben Ayade for his massive developmental drive in Boki local government, adding that the Boki East-West road would be completed this year while the Boje bridge was almost 100 percent completed.
Speaking earlier, Hon. Dominic Kidzu, the Director General of Engr. Dane Osim Asu Campaign Organization, said that his principal was not running election for Boki against Ikom, but rather, he is running against a poor and irresponsive representative, he was running the election against ineptitude and indolence.
Kidzu said that Hon. Chris Agibe has been unproductive in the red chambers, adding that he has been unreachable by members of the area.
“Agibe doesn’t visit. He doesn’t allow visits. He doesn’t call, he doesn’t pick calls. He doesn’t send text messages, he doesn’t reply the ones we send. He doesn’t attend burials, he doesn’t attend marriages, and festivals. He doesn’t do town hall meetings. We don’t know what he is doing in Abuja”.
“We sent him to Abuja to make laws, in three and half years, he hasn’t made any law. We sent him to Abuja to be our eyes and ears, for three and a half years he hasn’t heard or seen anything to tell us. He is flying under the radar, he is on a binge of his own. Like an affluent potentate on vacation.
“You cannot treat people like they mean nothing and then collect motorcycles from a Federal Government agency and bring to share. We need a change, and the people of Ikom and Boki are prepared to ensure they make that change and that change will come through Osim Asu”, he said.
