The people of Irruan Communities in Boki Local Government Area have cried out for help as a strange lavae has ravaged their Cocoa farms.

It was gathered that this was the first time these larvae was seen.
The larvae infestation started about a month ago eating up virtually all the green leaves and fruits of plants.

It was also discovered that the insect has defied all known insecticide.

Mr. Thomas Bisong one of the effected farmers said he has lost all his cocoa farms and it will take four years for him to recover.

Another affected farmer Barr. Michael Akan said he has lost ten of his farms to the plague.

The farmers call on the Government to help them put a fast end to the out break as the insect has been seen spreading to other economic trees.

Meanwhile, the director of SEMA Cross River State, Mr. John Inaku has assures the people that the Government is aware of the situation and will act in the shortest possible time.
